Desyrel Side Effects, Information and Desyrel Tidbits
What is Desyrel?
Desyrel (Trazodone) is prescribed to treat clinical depression, chronic insomnia, sleeping with fibromyalgia, control of nightmares and as a general sleep aid. Desyrel is not a serotonin reuptake inhibitor like Prozac, so it is sometimes prescribed in conjunction with an SSRI to help with anxiety that can develop from an SSRI anti-depressant.
Desyrel was originally developed in 1960's Italy by Angelini research labs. It was developed after it was hypothesized that major depression is associated with a descreased pain threshold. The FDA approved tradzodone in 1981.
